The football team pushed their way to a second playoff game, ending it with a bang.

Tigers had a victory in their first playoff game on Nov. 9, battling John Marshall and defeating them 12-6. This major win for the team created the opportunity for them to move on and participate in another playoff game on Nov. 12, ending the season, as Tigers lost to Culpeper 38-13.

“A chance to play for a regional title isn’t something that has happened often at Brentsville historically, and it was the third time in four years we’ve had that opportunity here,” commented Coach Mullinax. “After the game, their size and skill overwhelmed us in the second half. We were unable to do the things necessary to win the game, especially defensively.”

I am thankful for the opportunity to watch them grow in our program

— Coach Mullinax

Mullinax reflected upon the team and has devised some plans to help them improve and grow as players. “We need to continue to prioritize getting stronger in the off-season. Whether it’s in January, March, or May,” suggested Mullinax. “We must commit to gaining muscle and strength…but we can control how we attack the weight room and develop physically.”

Even though football season is over, the players ended it working to their full potential during those playoff games. “This was a fun and special group to work with, and I am thankful for the opportunity to get to interact with them and watch them grow in our program,” responded Mullinax. “I will miss our seniors… without them the progress we have made would not be possible. They’ve helped me more than they will ever know, and I look forward to watching what comes next for them.”
