Colgan High School, just down the road from us, is named after the late Senator Charles Colgan who was the longest serving state senator in the history of the Commonwealth.  On the wall of the school hangs Chuck Colgan’s Top Ten which were the ten rules of life he attempted to live by every day.  By doing so, he was a successful entrepreneur, politician, father, and person.

Chuck Colgan’s Top Ten

1. There is no such word as can’t
2. A quitter never wins and a winner never quits
3. A smile is like a business card, it only works if you give it away
4. Always be worth more than you are being paid
5. Find something you love to do, then find a way to get paid for doing it
6. The best way to defeat your enemy is to make him your friend
7. Nine out of ten things you worry about never happen
8. When you are getting ahead in life, make sure you reach out and give someone a hand up
9. Live your life in such a way that if someone speaks ill of you, no one will believe them
10. Always ask yourself… am I doing the right thing

Maybe we could all come up with our own top ten and make it our new years resolution to attempt to live by them in 2019.
