Tranquil

Viola Staples

A bright red mushroom

spotted white

as if splattered with paint

Little laughs

bounce off the trees

Like a twinkling bell

her laugh like a fairy’s

We dance like children

across large stone surfaces that

hover over a roaring river

And as we follow

the path back home

I smile for in this moment

the world has never

been more joyous

and tranquil
