With the transfer window for the Premier League closed, many soccer fans look forward to seeing their favorite players on the pitch as the Premier League (PL) 2019-20 season gets underway. Many teams such as Manchester United and Arsenal have improved their rosters through the transfer market. However, teams like Liverpool preferred to stick with the same players as last year. This season should be thrilling for PL fans.

The PL champions last year were none other than Manchester City, who had 98 points, and had Liverpool trailing behind by one point. Liverpool and Manchester City were clearly the powerhouses of the PL, as the third place team was Chelsea with 72 points. It seems likely that the two teams will continue to dominate the PL as Chelsea could not add any new players to the team due to a transfer ban. The other top six teams such Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all improved their rosters by signing world class players. For example, Manchester United drastically improved there defense by signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire. Both of these players will turn the teams weakness into strength. However, Premier League fan Dylan Spencer believes the two defenders will not fix Manchester United’s problem:

“The defense was not the only problem, they needed to improve their midfield as well and they didn’t do that.

The PL also welcomes three newly promoted teams; Norwich United, Aston Villa, and Sheffield United. Aston Villa wasted no time signing new players and spent 144.5 euros, the most any team spent this summer. Norwich seems to be content with their current team and will most likely rely on their top scorer, Teemu Pukki, to do the heavy lifting for the team. Another Premier League fan, Drake Hammil, believes Pukki will will lead Norwich into a good spot this season. “I believe Norwich will have success because Pukki has had an amazing season and should be able to keep Norwich in the Premier League. “The newly promoted teams will most likely try to copy the success of the Wolverhampton Wanderers, who were promoted in the 2018-19 season, and ended the season in seventh place. With hard work and determination, these three teams will do just fine in the PL.

Many club have become better over the PL summer transfer window and should perform well this season. While Liverpool and Manchester United seem to be favorites to win the league, it would not be surprising if another “dark horse” team wins the league this year. As always the 2019-20 season should be an exciting one.
