Hubie Halloween Review

Emma Waldo, staff

Hubbie Hollowen is a funny, entertaining film for families to watch during the quarantine, Halloween times. The director of this movie was Steven Bill. This movie had so many wonderful actors and actresses in it, like Adam Sandler, Noah Schnapp, Paris Berelc, Peyton List, Julie Bowen, Karan Bar, China Anne McClain, and so many more. The movie is rated PG-13 and was made this year in 2020. The movie was placed in Salem, Massachusetts, October 31st, 2020. It received a 5.2/10 on IMDb, 49% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 2.5/5 on IndieWire.

This movie was very funny but I did not like how it tried to normalize bulling in the beginning. The inter town was so rude to this kind man that just wanted to help them stay safe. The beginning of the movie was very miss leading and I was very surprised at the end of it. The children in this movie even picked on the main character. The movie is funny and made me laugh a little, the main character Hubie, is a kind man who’s family has been there since the witch trials of Salem. His many grates- grand- mother risked her life for the town and its people and Hubie took after her.

The ending of the movie was sweet, and the town changed their mind about Hubie. It was very cheesy, I won’t lie. It was nice to see that this movie did talk about some troubles that teens today face and struggle to deal with. But if you ask me the best part was at the very end of the movie there was a tribute to the late Cameron Boyce, a wonderful actor was taken from this world way to soon at 20 years old.
