Black Friday

In the late 1800’s the term “Black Friday” actual was a reference to the stock market crash. This term was first brought to light in 1869 when both “James Fisk and Jay Gould tried to corner the gold market on the NYSE,” according to www.thefactsite.com. They also noted that “the government stepped in and flooded the market with gold, causing prices to fall and investors to loose money.” Now today, the term “Black Friday” is know as the day after Thanksgiving, when prices are reduced at a large rate for Christmas shoppers around the world.
