Top 8 charities to donate to this holiday season

Now that the holiday season is here the spirt of giving seems to be in the hearts of Americans across the country. Feeling the need to donate to charities that help those who need it? Here is a top 8 list of charities to donate to this holiday season.

Number 8: The national alliance to end Homelessness-  

The national alliance to end homelessness works on the federal level to get funding for programs to help people get back on their feet.  

Number 7:  Prevent Child Abuse America-  

The prevent child Abuse America organizations goal is to, like the name says, prevent child abuse and neglect before it happens. They have sites set up across the nation where they provide recourses to parents and caregivers to ensure they have everything the need for them and the child or children they are caring for.

Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization that fights the effects of hunger. They focus on nutrition and health in malnourished children.  Because the effects of hunger stem from extreme poverty they have programs in place to improve access to food and income.

The Make a Wish Foundation grants children with life threating illnesses a wish. Whether that wish is meeting a famous person or getting a special gift, the goal of the Make a Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children who are going through so much.

St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital’s goal is to advance cures and the means of prevention for childhood cancer along with other pediatric diseases.

Love is Respect is a national resource used to educate people about toxic and abusive relationships and provide aid to those who are in an abusive relationship. They provide a confidential number to text, call and video chat.

The Trevor Project is a 24-hour suicide and crisis hot line for LGBTQ+ people under 25. Their goal is to educate and decrease the magnitude of young LGBTQ+ people who commit suicide.
