Yet another Brentsville student has been recognized for their athletic talent. BDHS senior Austin Stroud has committed Mars Hill University.

Even though he has not yet completed his last year of lacrosse, Stroud has still had a very impressive career at Brentsville. Stroud says his transfer from Patriot was the best choice he made for his lacrosse career. “I started as a freshman with talented seniors who still play in college. I have recorded two 50-points seasons, was first team all-region my sophomore year, and was a captain my junior year.”

Austin stated that he had a lot of fun memories that occurred on and off the field, but two memories stood out the most. “My favorite memory on the field was when I scored 6 goals in a game while the graduated lacrosse players were at the game cheering me on. My favorite off field memory were the senior nights and dressing up in jorts, cowboy boots, and Hawaiian shirts.”

Stroud plans to play four years of college lacrosse and then get a job in government. He also gave advice to future players, “Focus on school and then your sport, it helps overall with college. Also, make sure to eat healthy and work out when you don’t have practice or a game.”

Stroud obviously has great athletic talent, and it is clear that Mars Hill saw that. He will undoubtedly succeed in anything he sets is mind to. However, Austin’s teammate, Casey Parnell, summarizes his character better than I ever could, “He’s a great team player. He’s a hard working guy that leaves it all out on the field. He practices like he plays and he brings everyone together on and off the field.”
