Through My Eyes

Through+My+Eyes

Natalie Bashore

This painting relates to my latest published work as of now: “Perfect Design”. In “Perfect Design”, while the center piece can be described as a healing wound, it can also be thought of as an eye, and this painting is of that perspective. This painting has red and black markings in the middle of it that are like the markings in “Perfect Design”, and they are just enlarged to fit this perspective. In “Perfect Design”, you only see the outside of the healing wound and eye, but this painting, “Through My Eyes” is what the eye can see, and what the eye sees through the healing wound and the scars. The scars in the eye making it harder to see and focus on what is around is a metaphor to what it really means. These invisible scars are related to my mental health issues and personal struggles that I’ve been dealing with the past few months, and how dealing with these issues makes things a lot more difficult for me sometimes. From the outside, other people may see some scars or healing wounds, but from my inside perspective, it is very different. “Perfect Design, Through My Eyes”.
