“Flower, Butterfly, Fly” by Natalie Bashore

Natalie Bashore

Flower, Butterfly, Fly,

Fly past the sky,

Past the blue that keeps you down.

That tries to bury you beneath the ground.

You never make a sound.

No one notices you’re around.

But I do, Butterfly,

And you can get out of this house.

Your silence is a mystery,

They remember when you were loud, happy.

Now they’re confused as to why,

You never try to fly.

They don’t know the cause,

Of what changed you from who you once were.

But I do, Butterfly,

And with me, you won’t be hurt.

You’re never around the others.

No one knows about your mother.

Except for those close,

And you hope you all can stay together.

Flower, Butterfly, Fly,

Fly past the sky.

To the people that you miss.

You never got to say goodbye.

But they’re up in the sky.

That’s what they always say.

They’re there, watching over you.

But that doesn’t make the pain go away.

Flower, Butterfly, Fly,

At least you have to try.

Look to the people that you love.

In the sky, up above.

Butterfly, Flower, Bloom,

They won’t be home so soon.

Watch for yourself, help yourself.

You help yourself to bloom.

Butterfly, Flower, Bloom,

You started from a cocoon.

But now you fly, when you want to die.

I hope to see you soon.
