“Alone in a Crowd” by Natalie Bashore

Natalie Bashore

A face looking out of a clear window.

But is still trapped in the big house, inside.

Looking at the people, the places to go.

Wonder at all the things there are to find.

Together with people, I feel alone.

Many people do not know what I’ve seen.

Or even what I haven’t, on my own.

Some things are unreal, it seems like a dream.

Alienated to everyone here.

But people notice something that I don’t.

They notice my face, sometimes filled with fear.

When I am concerned of the things I don’t know.

Togetherness is what they say I need.

But sometimes it’s hard, to be proud of me.
